1. What Is 8K Resolution?
8K refers to a display resolution of 7680 × 4320 pixels, with more than 33 million pixels across the screen. The name “8K” comes from the roughly 8,000 pixels arranged horizontally.
To put that into perspective, a typical 4K UHD display has a resolution of 3840 × 2160, or more than 8 million pixels. An 8K display therefore contains about four times as many pixels as 4K.
More pixels allow a display to reproduce finer details and smoother edges, especially on larger screens or when viewing content from a relatively close distance. However, resolution is only one part of overall picture quality. The quality of the original video, display size, viewing distance, HDR, and the device processing the video can all affect what you actually see.
